Last year, with funding from the Pollock/Krasner Foundation, Carol Schille produced a number of large paintings in her three groups of work which have evolved from her travels in Asia. She also has smaller paintings in her body of work.

Schille has just returned from China, visiting International Heritage Sites in Anhui and Shandong Provinces including three of the historical mountains of ancient China, Huangshan, Jiuhuashan, and Tienshan. She was also in Qufu for the birthday celebration of Confucius. While there she made sketches and drawings.

Recently, Schille joined Earthwatch Institute on an expedition with Dr. Peter Bol, Chairman of the Department of Southeast Asian Languages and Cultures at Harvard, and his graduate students, in Xijiang Province, China, studying and documenting local architecture. She was interviewed on Chinese television with the help of translation by Dr. Bol. She did drawings of the landscape and architectural fragments for Dr. Bol's use.

In 2000, she trekked and traveled by pony into the kingdom of Mustang in the high desert Himalayas of Nepal to view the restorations being done on temples there. She has also trekked in the Everest area, visited Tibet twice, and hiked on Putuoshan, the Buddhist island off Shanghai.

Carol Schille had a large exhibition at Bettcher Gallery in Miami in 2002. Cora Bettcher has subsequently shown her work extensively in the Miami area, including a group show, "Party of Twelve" at the gallery. She has a large group of her paintings at the Eden Roc Resort, also in Miami: Bettcher Gallery has installed two works at the Floridian, a large new development at South Beach. This year she was included in the New York University "Small Works" exhibition, which was curated by Molly Barnes. She received an Honorable Mention. Schille came to New York from California, which had an important influence on her work. She received her M.F.A. from Indiana University.
